Background and Experience
Our mission for almost 10 years, is to stimulate the creative capacity of the young generations and is to open knowledge to those who are furthest away from it. To achieve this, we develop, with the complicity of our partners, exhibitions-to-play, workshops of artistic practice and support young and professional in the transformation of “places of knowledge” into spaces of experiences, by relying on digital resources, artistic creation and social design. The place of the young generations is central to our approach. They are the ones who, tomorrow, will take over from this shaping world. And they have ideas today to make it more desirable and sustainable. We design and run digital creation workshops able to bring young and adolescent audiences into the world of digital creation. La Fabulerie is also a cultural and digital third place in Marseille, housing a cabinet of digital curiosities, a coworking space, the Canteen of Mo every lunchtime and an abundant program offering digital experiences for all ages, cultural and educational.
At the origin of the project, Axelle Benaich, young Marseille autodidact woman believes that digital is a powerful facilitator of change and a real social lift for those who can embrace it. “We have to develop the capacity to imagine and shape this coming world to make it more desirable, sustainable and open” . In 2001, she joined « le Centre Populaire d’Enseignement », then, in 2005, the New Generation Internet Foundation, a digital think-tank that gave it momentum five years later to create the Fabulerie. Quickly, a creative community bringing together designers, developers, artists, sociologists, entrepreneurs joined and animated the project. In 2013, la Fabulerie launch the first educational Fablab in Marseille intended to freely disseminate the culture of digital technology and “do it yourself” (DIY & YoungMakers network). Then la Fabulerie created “minimix” residences: service design methods to rethink, with young people, the places they frequent (schools, permanent contracts, libraries, museums, etc.) and prototype new services more suited to their needs.
In 2016, they launch the TransFaire traveling digital lab dedicated to young people and professionals from territories located in rural areas (41 rural municipalities since 2014) and in priority neighborhoods In 2017, the second third place of the Fabulerie opens in the heart of Noailles, to inspire, train and bring together young and old, in this changing world!
